產(chǎn)品介紹This gene encodes a neuropeptide that is widely expressed in the central nervous system and influences many physiological processes, including cortical excitability, stress response, food intake, circadian rhythms, and cardiovascular function. The neuropeptide functions through G protein-coupled receptors to inhibit adenylyl cyclase, activate mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), regulate intracellular calcium levels, and activate potassium channels. A polymorphism in this gene resulting in a change of leucine 7 to proline in the signal peptide is associated with elevated cholesterol levels, higher alcohol consumption, and may be a risk factor for various metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. The protein also exhibits antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]

NPY is implicated in the control of feeding and in secretion of gonadotrophin-release hormone.

Secreted.

Tissue Specificity:
One of the most abundant peptides in the nervous system. Also found in some chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla.

The neuropeptide Y form is cleaved at Pro-30 by the prolyl endopeptidase FAP (seprase) activity (in vitro).

神經(jīng)肽Y廣泛分布于動物中樞和外周神經(jīng)元及機體組織、器官和腺體內(nèi) ,影響動物采食、激素分泌、心血管效應(yīng)、調(diào)節(jié)體溫、生物節(jié)律、性行為及動物情緒等多種功能。
由于結(jié)構(gòu)中富含酪氨酸 ,故稱為神經(jīng)肽酪氨酸 (NPY)。它的結(jié)構(gòu)與同是 36個氨基酸的胰多肽 (pp)和肽 YY(PYY)極其相似 ,故認(rèn)為同屬胰多肽家族。從分子結(jié)構(gòu)看 ,人、大鼠、豚鼠和兔序列安全一致 ,而牛、羊、豬 NPY序列與人的序列只相差一個氨基酸。
